The principles of enjoying infrared radiant heat and low temperatures to warm a floor surface and room in which the infrared underfloor heating system is fitted, produce a very comfortable and efficient heat over a given area, utilising a very low temperature to achieve your desired room temperature.

The heat from the heated floor surface takes advantage of natural radiation which creates a much more uniform warmth across an area than can be achieved by other methods of heating. It works by producing infrared radiation that travels through the floor straight to the objects in the room. In other words, it warms the objects directly instead of wasting energy on warming up the air.

Existing systems.....

A traditional radiator heating system relies solely on convection (the transfer of heat using the room's air) resulting in a heat which is uneven and inefficient therefore more heat is needed to achieve the desired temperature.

Also, these conventional radiators take up wall space, usually restricting where furniture can be located and more than not they are placed directly beneath windows - where approximately 80% of heat is known to be lost through the glass and window structure.

Convectional Heating

Convection heating uses an abundance of inefficient heat that causes the constantly circulating rising and falling air that ultimately causes drafts - very uncomfortable for people trying to get warm within the room with the addition of circulating dust and bacteria.

This is in contrast to infrared underfloor heating solution as the heat raises directly from the heater wall location so your feet are cold.

Infrared Underfloor Heating

Infrared under floor heating runs at much lower temperatures than radiators due to the fact that its heating source is released from a much greater floor area (i.e. the whole floor area).

Because of this, it is much more comfortable, your feet are warm and your upper body is warmed at a comfortable temperature rate and very importantly at a much reduced energy consumption rate.

In addition to the effectiveness and inherent economic advantage of underfloor heating, its installation promotes a healthier environment too.

As warmth that is emitted from the floor upwards means a reduction in the circulation of dust that is prevalent in the warm air flow of the traditional convected heat flows from radiators or similar wall mounted heating.

Moreover, an under-floor heating system set to 19°C would provide the same warmth as a radiator set to 21°C – 22°C - so it also reduces heating costs.
